Lets get the basics out of the way — that actress Kareena Kapoor is blessed with translucent skin, amazingly high cheekbones and cat eyes (in short, she is right up there as far the Indian standard, or really any standard of beauty goes).

That she is considered B-Town royalty (not just because of her filmdom’s-first-family lineage or the fact that beau, actor Saif Ali Khan, is actually a scion of an erstwhile princely state, but because she is considered to be among the very few in the business who can actually act, and the only one amongst the current crop of actors to have worked with all of the reigning Khans).

She has an impressive portfolio of films…and ads — currently she is one of the top brand endorsers, and has also enjoyed alongside all of this, the reputation of being a distinct style icon in oft-over-the-top Bollywood.
You would think armed with all this, the lady would have not a few airs about her — after all, lesser stars have showed their hauteur in no mean measure. But surprise, surprise, the one thing we noticed about Kareena when she dropped by the DNA office for the issue on Dhanteras, in this auspicious, festive Diwali week, was her unaffectedness. In casual jeans, hardly any make-up, and a wide, warm smile, our luminous guest laughed and listened and conversed with us for well over an hour…disarming us absolutely by her very down-to-earth aura and her absolute unpretentiousness.

“I don’t use too much make-up,” she confessed, when quizzed on her style secrets. It sets the tone for much in her life, we gathered, this refreshing simplicity, unanticipated amidst that larger-than-life Bollywood star aura.

Now that US President Barack Obama is coming to town, where would you take him, given a chance, we ask. “Can’t I just invite Obama home?” her ingenuous reply. “I would love to invite him home. I’m a great chef, I’d cook some great Indian food for him, talk to him.”

Kareena’s love for cooking is an unexpected revelation, we quiz her on it later, to learn that she studied cooking in school for three years, and would love to cook Saif’s fave dish for him (she hasn’t yet cooked him anything, in case you’re curious). He’s non veg, she’s strictly veg, but love triumphs, as in the movies — she will cook him his mutton curry!

Meanwhile, there is work and movie promotions to happen — Diwali will see her promoting her next big release Golmaal 3 in the Bigg Boss house and she is eagerly looking forward to that. Her Diwali wish? Like with all else, uncomplicated Kareena expresses her heart: “I want my movie to do well. And I wish my family, my parents, Saif, his kids Sara and Ebrahim could all be together. Saif’s in London, his kids are in Delhi, my niece and nephew are in Delhi. I wish we could all be together — but then work comes first…”

Saif, Kareena sign Metro shoes

After their successful outing as brand ambassadors for Airtel DTH, real life couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor have been chosen to endorse Metro Shoes. Though the official announcement is still due, the sources have it that they have already shot for a commercial with the tagline ‘Happy Feet, Happy People’.

The couple shot for the print ad campaign photographed by Prasad Naik and were styled by Anahita Shroff Adjania (Love Aaj Kal). The ad will be displayed on 100 hoardings across India and near major roads across Mumbai. Just a week earlier, Kareena also shot for her bike ad for Mahindra two wheelers for which she was chosen as brand ambassador.

Back in town after shooting overseas for the longest time with boyfriend Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor made sure that she played the doting masi to her seven-month-old nephew Kiaan and five-year-old niece Samaira (Karisma's son and daughter respectively).

TOI has learnt that Kareena took time out to spend one whole day with them and even took them out for a treat. She played with them through the day and even danced with Samaira on some of her songs. Of course she bonded with her sister and mother Babita too. Sources who spotted her say that Kareena was being a protective, but pampering masi when out on the streets. When in town, Kareena in fact makes sure that she takes adequate time out every week to spend with them.

When contacted, Kareena says, "They are the love of my life. I'm so happy that I'm masi of two of the most adorable children in the whole world. They fill my life with so much love and happiness that I'm constantly looking to be with them. There have been times when I have been out of town or constantly shooting but as soon as I have packed for the day, I have tried to be next to them. They are great stress-busters too. When I'm with them I don't think of work at all. It doesn't even matter then."

The actor says that Samaira and Kiaan's innocence makes her drool over them. "Children are the most innocent beings in the world. When we grow up, we get polluted and corrupted by materialism, the constant need to be successful and many others things. But being with the two kids, I feel a brush of innocence touching me too. I love it. I feel good that when I'm with them, I'm not thinking about what people in the industry are talking about me or whether my last film was a success or not or even how I look. They love me for what I am — unconditionally." Sources also say that Kareena constantly pampers them with gifts and the fashion icon that she is, clothes are always on her list of presents along with toys and other things.

Kareena Kapoor goes Shakira for Golmaal 3

Kareena Kapoor the beautiful actress of Bollywood has taken up a variety of key roles across her acting career but in Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal 3 she is ready to play a whole new part of her character as the only female lead of the film.

In fact the buzz making rounds is that Bebo took up the film with a condition in a flick that has multiple actors but all male. The condition was that she will play the part of the lead female being the only women with that sizzle factor to set the flick on fire for audience and Shetty readily agreed to this.

Kareena in the film will make Shakira shy on her moves as she has stunning performed a number with her harem pants on. Kareena took up the Halle Berry cat women look for the title number of the Golmaal Return flick and went ahead to show a bit of her meow quotient. And this time she is going down right sexy for her new flicks title track once again going aboard without any defenses.

Kareena herself revealed that this time she is trying to fit into the avatar that her audience wants to see her in and is hence willing to put up some thumkas and nach gana for her flick along wit some Shakira moves like her famous numbers Waka Waka and Hips don’t lie. Golmaal 3 is sure to be a masala block buster releasing in the month of November near Diwali.

Kareena Kapoor Together Again With Salman Khan

Their jodi as a husband and wife flopped earlier with ‘Mr and Mrs. Khanna’. However one can get to see Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor together again in the Malayalam remake of ‘Bodyguard’.

The Hindi version will be helmed by Siddique who did the original and also currently doing the Tamil version. The film expected to go on floors in December. The production department is being handled by Salman's sister Alvira and her hubby Atul Agnihotri. And in fact they are helping out the director with creative matters, as Siddique is a fresher in the Hindi industry.

Owing to his current successful status, sources say that, ‘Bodyguard’ is being shaped up to make it an out-and-out Salman movie. Besides, the makers are busy in applying Hindi flavour to the project.

First it was Ayesha Takia, then Sonakshi Sinha and now Sallu bhai is going to ‘protect’ our hot size-zero quotient Bebo…

The ever-so-young, bubbly, and chirpy bundle of talent, and the true ‘czarina’ of the Kapoor khandaan, Kareena Kapoor turns 30 today.

As usual, we ask our in house expert and renowned astro numerologist Bhavikk Sangghvi about what is in store for Bebo.

“Kareena was born on the 21st September, 1980 which makes her a Number 3 (Jupiter) person in numerology. She is a Virgo (ruler Mercury – Number 5) and her destiny number also adds up to the same Number 3 (Jupiter). In that case, she is ruled by Number 3 (Jupiter) twice which is the planet of ‘knowledge and 'wealth’. No wonder she is minting money be it her films, endorsements, stage shows etc. She also has a slight cusp of Libra (ruler Venus and Saturn – Numbers 6 and 8), ” explains Bhavikk.

“Being a Number 3, Kareena is very practical towards life and takes her decisions herself. The mercurial effect of Number 5 can make her impatient and restless by nature. At the same time, she can also be a fast learner. She looks at things very rationally and thinks from the mind first and heart later," says Sangghvi.

“Kareena completes her 30th year and now enters her 31st year, which indicates mental tensions, worries etc. leading to bouts of depression and a feeling of loneliness (are you listening Saif?). The effect of this will mainly be felt in the year 2011 at least till next September,” predicts Bhavikk.

“According to me, her equation with Saif will not remain great in the long run. Numbers 3 and 7 (Jupiter and Neptune) do not gel well with ‘difference of opinion’ being the main negative aspect. Still, if at all Kareena wants to get married to him only, then she should marry him between September 2012 to mid August 2013 as their ‘marriage ka yog’ is looking bright during this time. But the only silver lining in this relationship is that they commonly share the Number 5 (Mercury) between them making them both communicative and frank about their feelings for each other," explains Bhavikk.

“On the professional front, her last release ‘We Are Family’ added up to Number 37 (1). Number 1 happens to be one of her weakest numbers. No wonder the film failed at the ticket window, but being in her 30th year, she gained appreciation and praise for her role in the movie," he says.

“Coming next in ‘Golmaal 3’, there she will just be a part of the ensemble cast and will achieve nothing which will ‘stand out’ and what she can call her ‘own’, ” says Bhavikk.

“She is correctly wearing the Yellow Sapphire and an Emerald stone on her fingers and should not remove them at any point of her life,” recommends Bhavikk very strongly before signing off.
