Saif too has issued a press statement where he has denied that their relationship is going through a rough patch. The much-in-love couple rubbished reports of problems in their fouryear- long relationship.

Mumbai: Bollywood chocolate boy Shahid Kapoor, who had an unceremonious break-up with Kareena Kapoor, is still nursing the wounds of betrayal.

Apparently, Shahid, who invited all his ex-lovers to his birthday bash in a suburban lounge bar in Mumbai on 25th February, deliberately omitted Kareena from the guest list, whose name was conspicuous by her absence.

Even as Shahid and Kareena are yet to become friendly, talking to a daily, a source said, “He had invited all the girls he had been linked with in the past such as Amrita Rao, Vidya Balan and Priyanka Chopra (with whom he had split just before his bash!), but Kareena was omitted!”

Eventually, none of Shahid’s so called girlfriends turned up at his birthday bash, pleading pre-occupation.

It is learnt that while the director was writing the story, he decided to give Kareena's typically glamorous image a break in the film and offer her an unusual part. Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor, recently told the tabloids, the ring on her finger that started wedding rumors, is not an engagement ring by her beau Saif Ali Khan as the ring is something she has gifted herself.

“I know, everybody loves it (the huge diamond) but it’s mine. Saif has not gifted it to me,” said the actress.

Few days back, after sporting ring on Kareena’s finger, tabloids started buzzing with speculations that the couple is heading towards matrimony.

It’s clear that the two ex lovers have been avoiding each other like swine flu. But now, if things go as planned director Siddharth Malhotra whose first film We Are Family opened at theatres this Thursday might bring the two exes together.

Siddharth had originally planned his second film with Kajol. But since the actress will be on a maternity break from work for about a year and a half, the director has penned another script, a father-daughter comedy.

Siddharth hopes to rope in Rishi Kapoor and his niece Kareena as father and daughter in the film. For the romantic angle (with Kareena obviously) the director might rope in Shahid who is his very good friend.

“I was the Associate Director of 'Vivah'. Shahid and I have been close since then. Now we're even closer. I really value his judgement,” Malhotra is quoted as saying by a news agency.

Malhtora added that he will approach Shahid for the role only after getting the script approved from Karan Johar whom he calls his ‘guru’.

Rome, Milan, Florence and Venice – with locales as exotic as these, the Italian tourism board is trying to woo Bollywood filmmakers in Macau at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) to come, visit and shoot their films in Italy.

If the locations in Italy are shown through Bollywood films, it will be a “long-term investment” to promote tourism in their country, according to Salvatore Iannielo, representative of the ENIT – Italian State Tourist Board – in India.

“We got in touch with Bollywood because it plays a very important role in the lives of Indians, especially the actors and actresses. In virtue of this, we realised that this is a force that is capable of driving the decision of consumers and so we decided to be supportive of Bollywood to make Italy an important shooting destination for the industry,” Iannielo told IANS in an interview.

“As we know the moment a movie shot in Italy is a hit, it will remain in the lives of Indians for a long time. So it is not a simple advertising – it is an investment for a lifetime,” he added.

ENIT’s efforts to popularize Italy as a shooting location for Indian films began in 2005 when they collaborated with Yash Raj Films for “Bachna Ae Haseeno”, shots of which were taken in Venice, Rome and Amalfi Coast.

The board has recently associated with Sajid Nadiadwala for Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor-starrer “Kambakkht Ishq”, which has been shot in Vicenza.

Actor-director Sajid Khan is also expected to fly down to the country later in June to conduct his second round of reccee for his film “Housefull”.

According to Iannielo, Italy has a wide variety of options for locations and has much to offer that is different.

While the northern part of Italy is marked by its fast paced lifestyle, the southern part is enhanced by the old-world charm with little villages, crumbling ruins and widespread beaches. The Alps too are one of the major tourist attractions there.

“From north to south, for tourism as well as for shooting, Italy has such a variety of options – it’s not like many other places where the offering is limited. Because of the culture, artistic treasure and its old civilization from the Roman Empire to the Renaissance, one will have in each corner a different feeling, a different emotion,” he said.

The representative, who is posted in India’s financial and entertainment capital Mumbai, says tourists from India have increased manifolds over the past seven years.

“When we started in 2001, the number of people going to Italy from India was just 69,000. In 2007, we had 150,000 – so we are talking about a major growth over a span of seven years – which is quite good.

“Two-third of these people go and live in four to five star hotels in Italy and so India makes for a good up-market target for us. We look at India as an emerging country – we need to have a long term liaison,” Iannielo said.

Till now, India’s favourite international shooting locations have been in Europe, Thailand as well as South Africa.

Her glowing skin and svelte figure has millions of girls aspiring to be in her shoes. But Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor says it is her ‘vegetarian’ diet that keeps her fit and glowing.

“Apart from doing yoga to keep myself fit, I am a pure vegetarian. I don’t eat meat and that has helped me a lot to keep fit,” Kareena told reporters in New Delhi.

“I am proud to be a vegetarian and I am against those who eat meat. Go green to be fit, that’s the best way for me at least,” she added.

Kareena had given up non-vegetarian food in 2006, that is two years after she started dating actor and former beau Shahid Kapur, a strict vegetarian himself.

But even after her break-up with Shahid, the actress has continued to follow a vegetarian diet to keep her weight in check.

In fact, in 2007, Kareena had also won the ‘Cutest Vegetarian’ online poll conducted by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India’s youth division ‘PETA Dishoom’. She shared the title with actor R. Madhavan.

Apart from eating vegetarian food for her figure and fitness, Kareena’s water intake is high to keep her skin radiant.

June 23, 2010, (Sawf News) - Golmaal 3 completed filming on June 23 in Hyderabad, and the cast and crew celebrated with a private screening of the action comedy A-Team, followed by dinner.

Busy Kareena Kapoor could not make it to the break-up bash as she was shooting for a brand endorsement.

The rest of the cast - Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Khemu watched the film at Ramoji studios at and later gorged on Hyderabadi Briyani during dinner.

Arshad Warsi raved about the Hyderabadi biryani in his tweets through the entire filming in Hyderabad.

Also present on the occasion were writers Sajid and Farhad, cameraman Dudley and art director Narendra Rahurikar.

Golmaal 3 is slated for Diwali release on November 5, 2010.

Early life

Set on pursuing an acting career, she then took an admission in Government Law College at Churchgate to become a lawyer. Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor says she signed “Golmaal Returns” to have some fun and plays a “loud, colourful” woman, a role she hasn’t done before.

“‘Golmaal Returns’ was a planned move in my career. I’ve done films with an ensemble cast before like ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ and ‘Omkara’. But none that was so much fun,” Kareena told IANS.

Kareena’s role in the film is highly influenced by television tsarina Ekta Kapoor‘s soaps.

“I play Tusshar’s (Kapoor) sister and my name is Ekta and I only watch Balaji (Telefilms) serials the whole day. I play this suspicious housewife who keeps tabs on her husband’s movements all day long just because she sees women in soaps behaving that way,” the actress explained.

She added: “It’s a loud, colourful role. I’ve never done it before. Audiences are going to come out of ‘Golmaal Returns’ feeling very happy. I don’t want to restrict myself to serious cinema. I’d also like to do fun roles.”

But her role of the suspicious and jealous housewife addicted to Saas-Bahu serials turned out to be the one with the maximum glam quotient.

After the promotional theme track with the entire cast, Kareena shot a whole item number “Saala tu to kaam se gaya” by herself.

The baby boy (Kiaan) is really cute. Samaria looks so much like Sunjay (Kapur) but the newborn looks just like Karisma. It’s celebration time as the family has a boy after a long time. 3 Idiots has smashed all box-office records. And you have managed to hold yourground in an Aamir Khan film. Comment. I think it’s also because it is a Raju Hirani film. It’s the first time and Aamir and I starred together so there were a lot of expectations. I feel that I make the best pair with Aamir. You only did the film because of Aamir and Raju. In each of my films, good or bad, I have always stood out irrespective of the presence of other actors. I am doing Ra. One and I have fantastic roles in Agent Vinod and Golmaal 3. I have strived really hard to be known first as an actor then a star. I would hate it if someone tells me that I looked very good in my films and I hope that I am cast for my talent and not for my beauty. I don’t know if there are any sides as all of them are really different. Saif and I are great friends with Aamir and Shah Rukh is like family. My sister loves Salman. It’s said that you are the highest paid actress in the industry today. Is it true? I don’t know. You tell me as every day there are reports that so and so is charging so much. If there is a list on highest paid actresses, I want to be number ten. But the rivalry is evident when it comes to endorsements. A brand will sign me if they think I am good. There are only three shampoos and three soaps in the market so where does the question of who is the most wanted actress arise? Everybody has brands to endorse. How do you manage to take frequent breaks given your busy schedule? I take lot of off time as it’s very important for an actor to work do great work and take breaks. I must spend time with family and my loved ones or else I will just wear off, I will die, and my looks will fade. I do four movies and 12 brands a year so I need to travel all over the world and explore, which also shows in my acting. Producer Vashu Bhagnani has requested a galaxy of Bollywood stars, right from Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan to Govinda, Kareena Kapoor, Madhavan, Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen, to make an appearance in his son Jackky's do-or-die comeback film F.A.L.T.U.

Shooting for the film, featuring Jackky, Pooja Gupta, Angad Bedi and Chandan Roy Sanyal, started on Sunday. The doting producerpapa, who has decided to cash the goodwill he has earned in the film industry, says emotionally, "Luckily these are people who wouldn't say no to me, and they didn't. When I came to Mumbai from Kolkata I had nothing. Today I have a lot of assets, and I don't mean the immovable kind. I mean, these friends who've stood by me and are willing to help me out when I need them."

But Vashu insists he wants to cast each of these busy actors in well-written, complete cameos as teachers on the college campus where the story is set. Apparently Govinda, Madhavan and the Bachchans have agreed. Vashu has also approached Mallika Sherawat - she made her debut in Bhagnani's Jeena Sirrf Tere Liye as Reema Lamba.

Says the producer, "I will never misuse their goodwill. Do you remember Mr Bachchan's cameo in Biwi No 1? He was on screen for just two minutes. But no one has forgotten him in my film. That's how I want each actor's presence to be in F.A.L.T.U."

So far, the project has been dogged by problems, and Vashu isn't averse to admitting it. "We've gone through a lot of turmoil to get everything in place. The script underwent several changes, but it's finally ready. Then my director-choreographer Remo Fernandez broke his leg and we had to wait for his recovery. And all those premature announcements about actors agreeing to be part of my film have only harmed the project," he says.

Saif’s debut home production Agent Vinod is all set to take off on May 24 in Mumbai though its actual shooting would take place in Morocco. Kareena Kapoor is on a high. She is getting one film offer every day and receives more than 300 SMSes daily. The actress says her career has started looking up ever since Saif Ali Khan entered her life.

“Saif is extremely loving and supportive. In fact, the best phase of my career started when Saif came into my life. Now he’s enjoying this phase in my life along with me. That makes this phase even more special,” Kareena told IANS.

Many people gave her relationship with Saif no more than six months. Reacting to that, Kareena said: “There’s absolutely no room for such negativity in my life. I only have place for people who are positive and who make me happy by sharing in my happiness.

“This is the best phase in my life. And I feel I’m in a place where I’ve never been before.”

Commenting upon her career, she said: “I’m a lucky girl. I’m being offered one film every day. Normally a Bollywood actress does about 40 days’ work. My directors are taking about 100 days with me. I’ve already given Karan (Johar) 100 days for his film directed by Rensil D’Silva.”

What are you doing in this guy-oriented cast of Rajkumar Hirani’s “Three Idiots”?

I’ve an effective role. And no power on this earth would’ve made me miss the chance of working with Hirani. I’m a lucky girl. I’m being offered one film every day. I don’t have time to read scripts. I’ll do so in March 2009 after I finish my current lot of films which includes Karan Johar’s film with Saif. Normally a Bollywood actress does about 40 days’ work. My directors are taking about 100 days with me. I’ve already given Karan 100 days for his film directed by Rensil D’Silva.

Looking back, has it been a turbulent year for you?

I wouldn’t call it turbulent. It was an exciting phase in my life when so many things rushed down on me at the same time. The last year was a turning-point in my life. But the end result is happy. Both, professionally and emotionally, I think I’ve come out a winner. I’ve tried to be as dignified about my personal life as possible. As for my work, god has been kind.

Do you think you’re lucky?

It’s not just luck. I’ve worked really hard to get here. It’s my perseverance that has got me where I am. And I owe my success to no one else but myself.

Perseverance? You’ve begun to sound like Saif.

Yes, my vocabulary has increased. He makes me memorise some pages of the Oxford dictionary every day, ha ha. That’s a joke. But seriously, he does speak very well. So I’m trying to catch up.

Who’s your favourite Khan?

Ah-ha. Do I have to spell it out?

Is there anything you want?

I have it all. For me, the journey as an actress has just begun. And I’m not going to shift focus from it for four-five years.

No marriage for four-five years?

I know, I definitely want to. But not at least for three years. The work I’m doing is giving me so much satisfaction. No 28-year-old can ask for more.

People gave your relationship with Saif no more than six months?

Do you get enough time with Saif?

We’re offered a lot of endorsements. But we are not doing any except a shampoo brand (Head & Shoulders). But we’ll soon be signing on for endorsements. And we’re doing another film for Asthvinayak. That starts in April 2009. We want it to be a fast and furious action film. Something larger-than-life. Saif is working very closely with the producers. He’s trying to lock in on the script and director.

You’ve changed so much in appearance and behaviour.

Ha, that’s what you think. I’m still the same. It’s just that I’m so busy. I’ve been working constantly. On top of that my house is being done up. There’re a dozen things demanding my attention. I get 300 SMSes a day. I can’t answer them personally.

“There’re so many false stories about Saif and me. But it’s okay. I understand the need to know what’s going in our lives. Are we married… are we not married? Please! Fortunately, I’ve learnt to take all this unwanted speculation in my stride. The best thing is to just do my work and not get affected by the loose talk,” Kareena told IANS in an interview.

She says it was wrong to have heightened expectations from “Tashan” just because it had Saif and her.

“We just did what the script required us to. I don’t think people should’ve gone to see “Tashan” as Saif and my love story. What does that mean! We’re playing characters. That’s why ‘Jab We Met’ worked. The characters worked,” said Kareena.

She doesn’t like comparing her love life with work and said: “When I’m working, I’m working. And when I’m with him (Saif), I’m all there.”

What’s this about you being the highest paid actress in India?

I don’t know what other actors get paid. And I don’t care. I get what I deserve. I’ve slogged right from “Refugee” to “Jab We Met” and “Tashan”. An actor is signed for what he or she can deliver.

Is your price flexible?

I’ve always been flexible with my fee. The hunger is for the right roles.

Today it’s the script that works. All actors are hungry for the right scripts and characters.

All the attention given to your relationship with Saif – does that scare you?

I can’t stop living my life the way I want to just because of the attention. As long as I don’t let my family down, I’m not scared. I’ll always retain my values. But, yes, at times this endless attention does get scary. There’re so many false stories about Saif and me. But it’s okay. I understand the need to know what’s going in our lives. Are you fully comfortable in your relationship with Saif?

I don’t need to give explanations about what happens behind my closed doors. Right now I’m loving it. The paparazzi is doing their job. We’re doing ours. Both Saif and I understand that.

The two of you don’t have that much work together.

No, after “Tashan” we only have Renzil d’Silva’s film together. Both of us are too sensible to sign films just to spend time together. Saif is way too mature and extremely understanding. He respects the kind of work I like to do as I respect his work. And we keep our careers apart. Saif knows that right now my career is the most important thing to me. And that I need the space to work. To my family and me my career is top priority because I’ve worked really hard to get where I am. You as a friend have watched my struggle. My family and friends know how much I’ve slogged. I won’t give it up for anything.

So career wins over love?

There’s no comparison between the two. When I’m working, I’m working. And when I’m with him (Saif), I’m all there. Besides, Saif is a superstar himself. He’s so busy.

How do you rate him as an actor?

I think he’s a 10 on 10. The way he can make audiences laugh and cry is amazing. And his one-liners are extremely entertaining. And we’re both moody. So that’s fine.

How excited are you about your current assignments?

All my current assignments are completely different from one another. I’m so excited about working with Aamir Khan in Raj Kumar Hirani’s film. “Idiots” is a comedy with a social message.

It’s the first time and Aamir and I starred together so there were a lot of expectations. I feel that I make the best pair with Aamir. You only did the film because of Aamir and Raju. In each of my films, good or bad, I have always stood out irrespective of the presence of other actors. I am doing Ra.
One and I have fantastic roles in Agent Vinod and Golmaal 3. I have strived really hard to be known first as an actor then a star. I would hate it if someone tells me that I looked very good in my films and I hope that I am cast for my talent and not for my beauty.
I am here to sell my talent and I take great pride when I am offered a role in a boys’ film like 3 Idiots. I think my audience no longer likes me in films like Kambakkth Ishq and honestly I have realised that I won’t make that mistake again.
Kurbaan got good reviews but it didn’t work. An actor is an actor because of failures, not succes. A superstar is one who overcomes failures and people remember how good you are in a film, which has not worked. I am what I am because of my flops. Anybody can give two super hits and become number one.
Is there a long thought process before signing a film now? Sometimes there is no thought process at all. We actors are like scientists who keep on experimenting. People should know that Kareena takes risks and I did Chameli when I was 23 years old. I don’t care about what people say about Tashan as I gave everything to the film by changing my body.
How many actresses have the courage to take up the challenge of transforming themselves especially in this male dominated industry? Tashan was an achievement as I also met Saif during the film. Sometimes flop films and not hits is great news for actors.
How do you mange to have a good equation with all the Khans? I have chosen the safest Khan for my personal life. I don’t know if there are any sides as all of them are really different. Saif and I are great friends with Aamir and Shah Rukh is like family. My sister loves Salman.
It’s said that you are the highest paid actress in the industry today. Is it true? I don’t know. You tell me as every day there are reports that so and so is charging so much. If there is a list on highest paid actresses, I want to be number ten.
But the rivalry is evident when it comes to endorsements. A brand will sign me if they think I am good. There are only three shampoos and three soaps in the market so where does the question of who is the most wanted actress arise? Everybody has brands to endorse.
How do you manage to take frequent breaks given your busy schedule? I take lot of off time as it’s very important for an actor to work do great work and take breaks. I must spend time with family and my loved ones or else I will just wear off, I will die, and my looks will fade.
I do four movies and 12 brands a year so I need to travel all over the world and explore, which also shows in my acting. I have instructed Zahid (secretary) that after every three months I need to have a break for at least a week to look rejuvenated.
Although I appreciate people who want to work all year, I can’t do it. There is so much speculation about your and Saif’s relationship and wedding. Does it affect you? We have been open about our relationship and that’s why we are the hottest couple. If we get married now there will be no curiosity.
We are enjoying all the attention and are used to news about us getting married and breaking up all the time. Whenever we get married, we will let the world will know. Are wedding bells five years down the line? It will be much lesser than that. (Laughs)
News is that you are buying an IPL team with Saif? We did go for the bidding and we had all the papers in place but it got cancelled. If we are rebidding, it will be Saif’s call. I don’t understand cricket but Saif follows it. Movies are my only passion.
There are reports that you and Saif are planning a joint production house? I want directors and producers to make films for me. I don’t want to make films for myself. Professionally we are dramatically different as I sign a film saying ‘let’s do it’ while Saif won’t do a film till he is 100 per cent sure.
Are you doing Madhur Bhandarkar’s next film? I would love to work with Madhur. We are working on a script but nothing has been finalised yet. What about Milenge Milenge and the constant issues about Shahid Kapoor? These talks have resurfaced as Milenge Milenge will soon release. I have told Boney Kapoor (producer) that I am ready to promote the film. As for reports about Shahid and me, I am used to it.
